Pricing and Booking

Four questions cover most of the money talk:

Call (07) 3112 7997

What will a drain job cost me?

There's no hourly guesswork: the plumber finds the cause, explains the fix and quotes a fixed upfront price before any work starts. Access, depth and pipe material all move the figure.

Do I pay by the hour or by the job?

By the job. Once the fixed price is agreed it doesn't drift with time on site, so a stubborn root ball or a hardened grease plug costs no more than quoted.

How do I pay?

By card or EFTPOS on the day, once the work is tested and you've seen the line running free. There's no invoice to chase later.

Can you come today?

Usually, yes. Ring (07) 3112 7997 in the morning and we can usually have a plumber at your drain the same day, and we'll tell you honestly if the run for the day is full.

How the Work Runs

These four cover a standard visit:

Who actually does the work?

Our plumbers, working for a locally owned and operated drainage business rather than a franchise. Every job is quoted with a fixed upfront price agreed before work starts.

What happens on the first visit?

The plumber checks which fixtures are slow, finds where the blockage sits and talks you through the options before anything starts. You get the price in writing at that point.

How do I know the drain is properly clear?

We run water through the whole line before packing up and show you the result. A drain that empties freely under test is the standard we finish to.

What if the pipe itself is damaged?

Clearing fixes a choke, not a crack. If the camera shows a fractured or root-damaged run, the repair options, including relining, get priced separately so you can decide.

Local Drain Conditions

Six questions shaped by the suburb itself:

Call (07) 3112 7997

Why do drains slow down after summer storms?

Storms from November to March send run-off down Teneriffe Hill onto the river flat, where silt settles once the slope flattens. A pit or branch that slows after heavy rain usually needs clearing rather than replacing.

Are the converted woolstores harder to work on?

Sometimes. Bathrooms and kitchens fitted into former wool halls mean pipework boxed through brick and timber floors, so reaching a joint takes more care than in an open subfloor.

Does the flood history matter to my drains?

It can. Council maps put the 1974 flood across the low streets near the river, and silt pushed into cracked pipes during a flood is a common hidden cause of repeat blockages.

Which pipes am I responsible for?

The branch from your fixtures to where it meets the main is yours to maintain. Beyond that connection, Urban Utilities owns the main, and we confirm which side a fault sits on before quoting.

Do the restaurants affect apartment drains?

They can. Kitchens around the precinct share lines with residential stacks, so fat builds up gradually and the blockage often shows first in the lowest unit's shower.

Are old earthenware pipes still common here?

Under the renovated Queenslanders on the hill, often yes. Those early branch drains have open joints that take in silt and fine roots, which is why they block in patterns newer pipes don't.
